Earth Lighting was established in 2022 by founder and maker Lolly, born from a love of beautiful interiors, exquisite fabrics and the enduring art of traditional craftsmanship.
Trained at Lampshade School in the UK, Lolly learnt the historic techniques of traditional lampshade making, including hand stitching, upholstery and heritage decorative finishes inspired by methods dating back to the Victorian era.
Working between Suffolk and Essex, each shade is thoughtfully created by hand, with an emphasis on beautiful materials, considered details and the individuality that comes with something genuinely handmade.
Lolly’s love of understated elegance — always with a hint of flamboyance — is at the heart of Earth Lighting. Signature designs such as the Doris and Hetty feather shades combine timeless silhouettes with fringing, luxurious ostrich feathers and handcrafted passementerie, capturing a little of the glamour of the 1920s.
Natural silks, linens, cottons and velvets are carefully selected, with many sourced from smaller British design houses that share Earth Lighting’s appreciation for thoughtful design and sustainability.
